Look it up →What is a valve actuator?
The muscle that moves the valve
The actuator is the device that supplies the force and motion to position a valve's closure member in response to the control signal. It turns a pneumatic or electric input into precise, repeatable stem or shaft movement — and, on most control valves, into fail-safe action when the signal or air supply is lost.
Spring-and-diaphragm actuators are the workhorse for throttling control: simple, reliable and inherently fail-safe. Piston actuators add thrust for high-pressure-drop or on/off duty, and electric actuators serve where instrument air isn't available or precise holding is needed. Matching the actuator to the valve, the signal and the fail position is what keeps control accurate and safe.

Genuine Fisher™ actuator spare parts
Most actuator problems are solved with the right genuine part, not a whole new actuator. We supply OEM diaphragms, springs, seals, O-rings, stem connectors and mounting parts so your actuators keep their thrust, travel and fail-safe action. A will-fit diaphragm or spring can quietly change the actuator's response and fail behavior; genuine parts protect them.
Send us a valve serial number, actuator model or fail position and our team will identify and quote the right Fisher™ actuator or parts.
